About Ying Kee Restaurant
Ying Kee Restaurant is a chinese restaurant in Oakland, California. It is listed at 387 9th St, Oakland, CA 94607, which places it among the local businesses of Oakland that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Oakland; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 9 am–6 pm. It is closed on Monday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (510) 465-1888. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is yingkeerestaurant.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

I only come here whenever craving for shrimp Xui cao soup. The Xui Cao tastes delicious here but not the broth, it’s a little too light. We ordered the stir fried beef Ho Fun with gravy, & it wasn’t delicious, so I don’t recommend! This place is getting old, smelly, & dirtier compared to years ago. Cash only & tips are mandatory here!

Ying Kee is a true local gem. They’ve been around for over 20 years in the heart of Chinatown, serving good-value, authentic Chinese dishes made with fresh ingredients. While they offer all the classic favorites, they also cook the comforting country-style dishes our parents grew up loving — from salty fish entrées to lamb in Sichuan chili oil, bitter melon spare ribs with gravy over noodles, crispy fried fish, and so much more. Come here for that warm, family-style feel and enjoy delicious Chinese food paired with friendly service. **They are known for their shrimp dumplings AKA (Water dumplings) with the fish skin inside! It’s The Best in Chinatown! They recently renovated, so the space looks great too.

Was excited to try their Curry Beef Brisket, but it was really not enjoyable. The onions and peppers were barely cooked so they still had that raw taste/crunch and the “brisket” was mostly fat/cartilage (as pictured) with about three small chunks of meat in the whole meal. The container also leaked all over since for whatever reason they didn’t think to use one that seals fully. For a $50+ check, I’m pretty upset that I was served curry with raw vegetables and the scraps you’d trim off a brisket rather than the brisket itself. First and last visit here.

Will definitely come back again when in Oakland. The menu does not look expensive and the food I ordered is pretty tasty. I ordered the Wonton Soup without noodles and also a Chiu Chou Noodles. Friendly staff and credit cards accepted.

Fast service and great food. Dried scallops egg white fried rice was awesome, it looked plain but it’s very flavorful. We were so hungry when we arrived without further ado we ordered the fried rice and it’s served in less than 10 mins.
